What makes Prowl different
- Benchmark-first, not catalog-first. Other registries list tools; Prowl measures them.
- Open provider network. Any developer can run benchmarks and earn 70% revenue share — the catalog grows itself.
- Agent-priced. Free reads, paid writes. Designed for the asymmetry of the agent economy.
- API-only. No dashboard. Everything is REST, MCP, Python SDK, or signed manifest.
- Independent. Not VC-backed, not owned by a model provider — no conflict in scoring.
Story angles for writers
- "The first SEO playbook for the agent economy" — ASO as a category, with Prowl as the operational definition.
- "How agents will silently pick winners" — the no-feedback problem of agent-driven API selection.
- "The $1 benchmark" — why the unit economics of paid benchmarking work in the agent era and didn't in the human era.
- "Open-sourcing a marketplace" — prowl-bench provider network as a model for incentive-aligned data flywheels.
- "Composio vs Smithery vs Prowl" — the three-layer agent infra stack and why they barely overlap.

Brand voice
Sarcastic when describing the human-internet status quo, technical when describing infrastructure, deadpan when discussing the agent economy. Prowl does not do hype. The landing page roasts humans for still being in the loop. The docs are dense and assume the reader knows what an HMAC is. The phrase "Disrupting the API space" should never appear.
Founder bio
Prowl was started by Oscar Castillo, an independent builder working on agent-economy infrastructure. Previous projects include Mycelio (binary agent-native protocol), prowl-bench (open-source benchmark runner), and several agent-first tooling experiments at the intersection of LLMs and SaaS APIs.
